The person who was scheduled to come clear our sewer line in St. Paul was supposed to show up between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. He called by 4:20 pm and said he was having trouble on his current job and would be late coming to me. At 5:12 pm, another person who said they would be coming instead. The replacement was an experienced cleaner and a trainee. It took them a long time for them to show up. because they stopped for supper on the way from Minneapolis. The water meter was close to the sewer access that required extra care. The 109 yrs old line had 15' of 4" dia. iron pipe & 60' of 6" clay pipe. I viewed the first cleaning and asked them to clear it a 2nd time as there were some places that still had tree roots on up to 1/4th of the 6" dia pipe. I asked for a second cleaning. Approved the 2nd camera inspection. They did a good job in a difficult situation. The two cleanings and 2 camera inspections cost $370.00..

I called Drain Busters for a plugged main drain (a crisis, for real!), but they were not able to come out on the same day, so they recommended I call American Sewer instead. Happily, American Sewer was able to come out to my home in a matter of hours. The technician was upfront about the cost, which was under market rate, and took the time to explain what needed to be done--a 6" auger blade needed to be inserted into the 4" cleanout hole, which he was successful in doing. This made a huge difference, because the main drain pipe is in fact a 6" pipe. With that effort, and the state-of-the-art equipment used, at the end of the day, I saw for myself a video of my main drain before and after cleanout--the end result was a great improvement! In addition, I was invited to call John the owner of American Sewer to discuss a matter of two rain gutter inlets to the main drain, which we are concerned about. That is good customer service. It's clear they take the job seriously and have a sense of ownership about the work that they do. I will gladly use American Sewer again.
