Shortly after moving into my new townhouse, I found that I had poison ivy growing in a number of spots in the adjacent shrub beds. Being very allergic to it, I didn't want to pull it out myself. Nor did I want to spray it and potentially kill the other nearby plants. I found the Poison Ivy Horticulturist with owner Umar Mycka online, saw he serviced South Jersey and had good reviews, so I contacted him. He sent someone out a few days later to scope out the job and told me the vines were pretty established in one area, which would take some time to fully dig out all roots, but the other areas were all new seedlings that could be easily plucked out. I agreed to the job which they performed a couple weeks later. Everything looked great and nothing has come back in the areas they worked. However, a few weeks later more poison ivy seedlings showed up in new areas. They immediately returned to pull them at no additional cost. However, they let me know that to have so many new seedlings meant the poison ivy was spreading from a large nearby source. My property backs up to some woods which they searched and found numerous, huge vines they estimated to be decades old. Apparently such established vines produce vast amounts of berries that birds then spread to nearby areas, like my property. So now this has become a larger issue that involves my HOA, but I'm grateful to have Umar and team available to assist. I would very much recommend them if you're looking for a long term solution.
