I think Spring Mill could do much better than the quality of food provided by Sysco "the largest food service distribution network in the world". The Sysco website claims they provide fresh fruit and produce, but what I see is a lot of carb heavy foods that cause Spring Mill residents
to gain weight rather than benefit from local organic nutrition.
For at least half of the year Spring Mill could get easily food products directly from
local farmers jus toike local restaurants do. However they choose not to do so.
Is that work? Yes it is, but the nutrition is worth it, especially for a Senior Citizen.

The problem is that if a business must serve three meals a day on an
industrial scale, firms feel they have no choice other than Sysco. The problem is that
Cisco foods have been pasteurized to kill any possible contaminants because that
makes the lawyers happy. This also turns fresh food into dead food. It kills the
live food nutrition in favor of longer storage value.

I couldn't even get the Food manager to provide fresh grapefruit. I had to do it myself.

Having said all that, Spring Mill is probably the best local place for my mother.
