I was having trouble with my heat pump maintaining temperature in 2024, both heating and cooling. I was told by one HVAC tech from another company that based on the readings he was getting from the heat pump, the TXV (thermal expansion valve) in the outdoor condensor was stuck. The technician recommended replacing the heat pump. The heat pump was just over 10 years old and for the price my wife and I paid and the fact that it was a Lennox unit, I expected to get a few more years of service out of it. Therefore, I decided to get another opinion. I called 3 different HVAC companies the last week of May, 2024, all with good ratings on Washington Consumer's checkbook. One company was more interested in telling me about how busy they were. I was told my information would be passed along to the scheduling manager who would call me back. Either I never received a phone call or the scheduling manager didn't want to leave a voice mail. The second company I contacted couldn't send someone out until July because I was considered a new customer. I didn't want to wait that long. Johnson's Polar Air was the third company on my list, so I called them. I was told that someone could come out in 2 days. The HVAC service technician who came out was named Mark. Mark was one of the nicest, and probably the most informative, HVAC technicians I've ever dealt with. Mark spent time checking the outdoor compressor and then he went up into the attic to check the air handler. He confirmed that the issue was a stuck TXV valve, but it was in the air handler, not the outdoor condensor. Mark fielded numerous questions I had without any display of impatience or irritation. For the amount of time (2.5 hrs) he spent with me, he only charged me $119. Mark said he would work up a quote on repairing the TXV and a quote on a heat pump replacement. Oddly, I never heard from him or the company again. Therefore, I can't recommend this company.

Mark was very pleasant, prompt, and fixed an issue with a capacitor on my non-functioning AC unit. After completing the work, he explained what the problem was and how it was fixed. There was no hard upsell for other services and I didn't feel like he was trying to do more than what was necessary. Setting up an appointment was easy and the person I spoke with was very friendly and pleasant. A great local company that I will be supporting and using going forward.

We have a new house where a lot of things were installed sloppily. Johnson's Polar Air straightened the air ducting system so that air flow to all the bedrooms is now even. They also fixed part of our humidifier that wasn't to code. They had good recommendations to save money. We signed up for an annual contract and have been pleased with the service.
