We were very excited to be working with Klopf on our Eichler remodel, however the experience was very disappointing. There was a lack of creative solutions, good ideas, and attention to detail -all things you want in an architect. John Klopf is very nice, but we were assigned another Architect in his firm who truly could not have been worse. We complained about her from the very beginning, but no changes were made. Such a waste of tens of thousands of dollars.

Before our remodel, we had seen some stunning Eichlers remodeled by Klopf Architecture. I wish that Klopf had talked with us more about our needs as a family and suggested more options during the planning phase, especially with regard to details like trim and flooring. We decided to have Klopf oversee the remodel since this was our first one, and we wanted someone who could be a counterpoint to the contractor. For the tens of thousands of dollars that we paid for their services, we found their oversight of the construction unhelpful. When the contractor used subpar trim, Klopf responded with "...let's not use that ever again" and didn't provide any helpful suggestions for how to remedy the problem. The pros of using Klopf architecture is that John Klopf is easy to talk to and responds quickly to emails.
