We are renting a house that was flipped by Dila some years ago. We've found numerous code violations and defects that have cost the landlords over $20,000 to repair. A few examples: The bottom stair riser is different than all the others creating a code violation and trip hazard, there is inadequate headroom at the stair to the basement which is a code violation and hazardous, no shut off valves for the faucet which we discovered when it was leaking and there was now way to turn it off for repair, we found a giant hole in the exhaust flue for the gas furnace and water heater which was dumping carbon monoxide into the house, the exhaust flue was not the correct type of pipe for concealed construction (installed behind a wall), the electrical panel was improperly installed and had to be replaced, a load bearing wall was removed on the first floor so now the 2nd floor sags and none of the doors close properly, the door trim fell off one of the bedroom doors, the wood flooring in the master bedroom is two different widths in the same room just stained to sort of make it look similar, they drywalled over the shut off for the outside hose bib so it could not be shut off in winter, the stair railing is made of a piece of steel pipe that is too large to grip and the cable railing cables are so loose my child has gotten caught up in them and fallen down the stairs, the exposed brick wall sheds mortar dust constantly, there was no exterior insulation in the rear addition and there was no flashing around the windows so they leaked until they were replaced, there was no weather barrier under the siding, the house is extremely expensive to heat and cool due to all the gaps, cracks and lack of insulation. Steer clear of DILA.
