I didn’t shop around for price. I needed a new starter.

Have been going there 19 yrs. No longer. They gave me a price of $1050 for oil pan job on 01 Honda Civic Ex. Calling to shops on Consumer Checkbook list, prices ranged from $375 to $700. Plus I took the car to Certified Auto Repair (A+ BBB rating and Consumer Checkbook recommended) and Frank said I did not need the service at all.

Quality has been OK with only a few glitches over the years, but their prices have become outrageous. On a $430 repair bill they added nearly $40 for "shop materials" even though they itemize (and charge separately for) washers, solvents, etc., $9.95 for "hazardous materials handling" and -- here's the most absurd one -- $3.75 for "document recording & retention." I spoke to the manager about the last one, and he said it was to pay for their computer system. Surely when they are charging $148/hour for labor such costs should be included in their cost of doing business.
