Fitzgerald was given my personal info by the Toyota network. I received a coupon in the mail for $50 off any service. My car was due for an oil change and tire rotation, so I called for pricing. I was told $125. When I asked for a line-item breakdown, I was told $92 for the synthetic oil change and $30 for the tire rotation (which adds up to $122, not $125). With the $50 off, that was a good deal. However, when I arrived, I was told the bottom-line price was $147; fees and taxes were not included in the phone quote. And only then did I find out that they charge 3% more if you pay by credit card. At that point, the "savings" over independent mechanics was marginal, but I was there, so I reluctantly proceeded. Because I had to sit there and wait for the work to be done, I told them NOT to take time to check other things; I had changed air filters and topped off washer fluid recently, windshield wipers were fine ... I would NOT be paying for any other service. I crossed off and initialed the deletions on the work order. I then waited TWO HOURS and 20 minutes for the car for service that took 45 minutes max where I bought the car (in another state). I got a report indicating that they had indeed done all the checks I did not want to wait for. I got in my car to find the rear-view mirror misadjusted, and the steering wheel tacky.

They are good about only doing what you really need. When I come in on a service schedule, if my mileage has been low, they often advise me that I don't need some of the normal services done at that service interval. Over my lifetime, I have found that's unusual in dealer repair shops.
