Review of Hunter Kitchen & Bath
I’m disappointed to leave a one-star review.
I met with Chad Hunter, owner of Hunter Kitchen & Bath in Bryn Mawr, PA, about renovating my small 6-by-9-foot bathroom. The project was straightforward: no plumbing relocation, no new window, and no shower door—just new tile, upgraded electrical and lighting, a heated floor, and a walk-in shower.
During our discussions, Chad mentioned a project cost of about $60,000, which was already well above my budget of $40,000. I paid a $1,500 deposit for design renderings and a formal quote.
After several meetings, I was invited to review the plans. The renderings looked nice, but the contract presented to me was for $90,000, plus an additional 10–15% allowance for overruns. I was shocked by the increase, especially for such a small bathroom. When I questioned it, I was told that some of my selections exceeded the standard package.
I declined to sign the contract and asked for the renderings, since I had paid for them. I was told the renderings were proprietary and would only be credited toward the project if I hired the company. When I requested a refund of my deposit, I was told it was non-refundable.
A few days later, Chad sent a revised proposal closer to the original $60,000 figure, but by that point I had lost confidence in the process and chose not to review it.
My biggest concern was the dramatic increase from the originally discussed price to the final proposal. The experience left me feeling that expectations were not clearly managed, and I lost trust in moving forward with the project.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
