Our house is now 75 years old, with a wood burning fireplace that was showing signs of build-up that was very concerning to me. When we had to replace the gas furnace and water heater, the plumber recommended Ashmasters to check the flue and see if it needed relining. We had had another company look at the chimney almost 15 years ago that wanted us to spend a lot of money to reline at the time, a price that was rather high when I checked around. We got a second and third opinion and were told the chimney was still in good enough shape to use as is, so with relief we chose someone to just clean it regularly for 15 years. Over time, though, this chimney had been building up enough creosote to be dangerous--inevitable for its age. I did spot checks and began to wonder if the chimney sweepers were now just telling us what we wanted to hear. Ashmasters came by to assess, spent time explaining what we were looking at, and why it was not good, and gave a fair price for the relining of the flue and the wood-burning chimney. They called in below freezing weather less than a week later, said an opening had come up. The work was arduous, especially in the cold weather, but they did a thorough job, cleaning up after themselves. Our house is built like a tank, so working on it was not easy. Long and short, they did an excellent job, even offering a slight discount when it took one day longer than expected. Now we have peace of mind and can get another 20 years of enjoying our wood fireplace. We highly recommend this group: they do know their business. They aren't going to lie to you either about how bad or good it is, they give it to you straight.
