Getting one's ducts cleaned is considered by some experts to be necessary, others unnecessary. Since I had ours cleaned already, and I purchased their lifetime service (includes a negative ionization test every year and a basic furnace tune-up plus deep duct cleaning every 3 years), this was the first follow-up, the negative ionization test. They were able to schedule me within a week, which was impressive, but arrived an hour or so later than scheduled. Since I had a day off that day, that had negligible impact. I didn't know what to expect, I should've asked. They put a large-diameter hose through a front window - fortunately a dry day - and run a machine for at least several minutes while opening up the air intakes to take a look. The occupant of the front room thought some personal items were taken, which may or may not have been from this technician. As for the intakes, they were looking for dirty filters plus the opportunity to sell you on cleaning that part of the ducts, about $250. No, that wasn't part of the regular duct cleaning from a year previous, but for the price - as well as the slightly-lower price they offered after I balked - one can put their own vacuum hose down and move it around and probably accomplish similar. Due to this experience, which didn't get any "results" from the so-called "test," which suggests that was just a ruse, I intend to skip the NI test, even though I essentially pre-paid for it. Instead, I will claim the "every third year" options, while ensuring that my filters and intakes are immaculate prior to the Starducts technician's arrival. In summary, this company would serve itself well by providing their customers with better proof/information for what is a service with mixed acceptance. On the other hand, this service may be equivalent to their competitors, which is why I generally rated them adequate. If you go forward, my suggestion would be to ask a lot of questions.

I am torn between whether to rate them recommend or not. That's because I, after the work was done, question whether duct cleaning is a necessary service or not, based on what I've read since. In addition, while Starducts did the work I requested, they did upsell on other services (as I was using a coupon), some of which I question whether they would actually deliver on, e.g. annual duct cleaning. Other than that, their service people were polite and friendly and did as they were requested to do. Other reviews I've since read have complained of problems with their work, so I'd advise to supervise them carefully, as I did.
