practically refuse to use an old frame (even a metal one). i had to argue with more than one person to get them to use my old frames (they are working out just fine).
i think the staff is trying to teach the students "up-selling".

FANTASTIC eye care! Eye wear center IS a bit pricey, and I bet you can get the SAME quality products for less elsewhere! Staff is helpful, but it's EXPENSIVE!

I've gone to the UC eye clinic several times in past years to have prescriptions filled for glasses. They carry quality lenses and frames, and prices seem reasonable compared to regular eyeglass stores. The variety of choices is quite large. The expertise of service seems generally good. Customers are served first by a third-year OD student in training, and then the work is checked and sometimes corrected by a supervising OD. I've generally been pleased with the results, though the progressive lenses I received in my most recent visit did not work as well as the ones I had before with an older prescription. I had been recommended to try a different type of progressive lens. But I took them back without charge and am now waiting for new lenses with the old type of progression. One drawback is the wait time, which can be lengthy depending on how many staff and customers are there at a given time. They don't make appointments if you have a prescription are just seeking to buy frames. Also, it takes longer to be assisted first by the student OD and then have the supervising OD review the work.
