My stereo receiver started failing intermittently with a "circuit protect" error. I liked this stereo receiver a lot even though it was nearly 30 years old. It seemed newer receivers might not be delivering as good a sound quality, at least not for a decent price, and not without being overly complicated. True Sound turned out to be the ONLY local place I could find that still did stereo receiver repairs. I took my stereo over to them. Nick, I think it was, took the stereo into their shop to examine it for an hour while I went for a walk on the los Gatos Creek Trail. I came back and talked with Nick about the diagnosis. He said indeed a component was broken and the fix was $285. Involving getting the genuine component from Japan, not the fakes which didn't work as well. Seemed pricey but I'd done my research and decided to let Nick fix it. YES! When I picked up my stereo a couple of weeks later, it worked as good as new, no more protect error! A bonus, one of their staff patiently helped me sort out a possible problem with my speakers. True Sound is a unique and precious resource for stereo buffs.
