We use House Prep twice a year to inspect and clean our gutters. As part of their service, they also check our roof for loose or missing tiles and make repairs. They are dependable and honest. Many of our neighbors also use their services.

Expensive additional roof work after initial lower quote for gutter cleaning. I got several estimates via Yelp and this initial estimate was lower than the others. (But still towards the high end of what Checkbook suggests is the typical range.) The agreed to do pictures BEFORE in addition to their normal AFTER. The two people spent about 90 minutes (1) cleaning the gutters/etc. of my 2-story home and (2) getting pictures of additional work that should be done. For this they charged the $275 that had originally been estimated. It had probably been decades since the last gutter cleaning, so it was good to get this done. They showed me pictures of lots of roof problems. All the pipes needed new gaskets and there were some concrete tiles that were cracked and needed to be patched. They gave me an estimate of $750 to do the repairs. In a [typical] moment of weakness/laziness, I said go ahead and do the extra repairs. They spent about two hours. In retrospect, I suspect I could have had the repairs done much cheaper if I had shopped around. $750 seems like a lot for two hours, a half dozen replacement gaskets, and some patching of some cracked tiles. But, I suppose I'll never know for sure. Other than the high cost, I don't currently have any significant complaints.
