Richard's quote was in the mid-range of my other offers, but considering the quality of his work I think it was a very good deal. He even went above and beyond and anchored the porch into the ground with reinforced piers - without charging me for this extra work; he just did it because he thought it is the right thing to do from the engineering point of view.
Richard worked very hard, and at the end of every day he gave me an account of his progress and of the engineering considerations he had about the work.
Richard does not cut corners - he does the right thing. He is an "old school" professional that is so rare to find these days. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Considerations: Richard is a one man show, so be clear on timelines up front. Our project included a sidewalk and some gravel work and took 4 weeks total. Also, he started late (after noon) and worked late (7pm - 8pm), which caused some issues with our neighbors.
