On Friday, 9/4/2026, I looked at checkbook.org and yelp.com for possible companies to clean my gutters. I read reviews and looked at ratings and chose several to consider, including one I had used previously (HPHS). I requested quotes using yelp and also using some of the companies web pages. There was one, All Clean Rain Gutters (ACRG) (with 100% positive for 8 reviews on checkbook.org), that yelp did NOT have a way to contact and they did not seem to have a web page, so I phoned them. Herb at ACRG gave me an estimate of $165 over the phone, based just on the location(Martinez)/size(13XXsqft) /height of my house (2 stories). I mentioned that I wasn't sure if it was okay for someone to stand on my concrete-tile roof. Herb said he would make a note about that for the person. Herb said the person (whose name I don't remember, or maybe was "Netty"?) would come between 9 and 10 am on Wednesday. The guy (not Herb) arrived at about 8:48. I mentioned the fragile roof and we had a pleasant conversation where he indicated he thought it would be okay. Apparently the gutter cleaning was done at about 9:21 and he commenced cleaning the ground from whatever debris had fallen. The ladder was still leaning against my house. I noticed the guy stopped at about 9:37 and sat in his truck. I went out with the check and paid him and he moved the ladder and then sat in his truck until about 9:54. (I assume his next appointment was probably at 10:00 so he was waiting for that.) I had made the mistake of not putting out my green bin; I had put out my trash bin. He saw my neighbor's green bin about 10 feet away from my house and he put the debris in that. Probably okay, and I should have put out my own green bin. As far as I can tell, things have gone okay. From the ground, the roof looks good and it seems he cleaned-up after himself. (There were no pictures provided unlike the company from 2022, but I'm okay with no pictures along with the much better price than estimates I was getting from other companies.) I guess I might conceivably have issues later during the rainy season, but I won't know that for awhile. For the time being, I am happy with the result. Other companies that either (1) I contacted or (2) yelp contacted automatically because the company pays yelp for referrals: I contacted Lightstream Home Services via their web page and they sent an estimate for $340. The estimate said it was only good for one day. (They had 100% positive for 18 reviews on checkbook.org.) I contacted House Prep Home Services (HousePrep Gutter and Roof) (via their houseprep.com web page) because I used them in 2022 when they charged $275 for cleaning the gutters, plus $750 for fixing problems they reported/showed on the roof. I'm not sure if I got a reply. I think I contacted A-1 The Clear Choice using their web site because checkbook.org reported 100% positive in 13 reviews, but I'm not sure if I got a reply. I tried to contact Go Green Cleaning and Maintenance but their web page had no obvious way to get an estimate, it just had "Schedule Service". (So I crossed them off the list.) I used Yelp to contact AA Gutter Cleaning. They replied with minimum prices starting at $500 but adding $100 if roof cannot be safely walked... (I chose ACRG instead.) Sunshine Gutters and Roofing contacted me via Yelp email and asked me lots of questions (name?, address?, phone?, email?, #levels?, gutter covers and type?, roof type?, walkable?, when last cleaned? and any trees or obstructions?) (I chose ACRG instead.) The Brothers That Just Do Gutters -- Link to yelp -- They sent me a link for filling in information to try to get an appointment for an estimate. (I chose ACRG instead.) Mr T Bay Services -- $299 estimate, along with a list of available times to choose from. (I chose ACRG instead.) Exclusive Construction estimated at least $350, but possibly more, depending on what they see when they look. (I chose ACRG instead.)
