The TV ads show these happy fellows in Empire uniforms hustling to get the job done. The reality is they subcontract the job out to the lowest bidder. In my case, one fellow named Jose who spoke minimal English, and his helper who spoke no English. No uniform and no credentials. I paid for a underlay over the existing flooring. Jose said it was not necessary. When I complained to the salesperson, she referred me to the scheduler who told me to take it up with Jose. I liken it to paying for a primed exterior house painting to be told the primer coat was not necessary, painting the house without a primer coat, and offering to refund the price of the primer. When offered a chance to provide feedback I did. Empire sent out a fixer, who said they would send out a crew to address all my concerns. Jose showed up at my door. I told him he was not coming into my house, They sent another crew who addressed my concerns. If I could afford it, I would rip out the Empire job and start over.
