This outfit has very good ratings in San Francisco and the guys who run it present well, are prompt, come with their kits and have access to a lab for results. However, I've now used them at multiple houses with mixed results. For one house, where we had a flood, we were told that there was extensive mold growth and that it would be best to intervene by tearing up a floor. But we were told that there was no mold to speak of in a storage area where everything gets moldy. We chose not to call in remediation experts because it would be too costly, and now, years later, we have had no problems at all with the area that was supposedly invaded by mold spores. Meanwhile, at another home, where we did a big renovation, and where furniture, clothing, suitcases, floors, you name it, were covered with mold and many things had to be thrown out, we were told at the outset of the project that there was no mold to worry about. Then months into the project, a huge black mold explosion was found to be in one room and spreading to others. Apparently, it was dangerous enough that an intervention was absolutely necessary. My sense is that mold testing is not a very accurate science. The main positive thing that Bay Area Mold Pros has going for it, and which they tout, of course, is that they don't do remediation, they merely point out where there's a big mold problem ....or not, and in that sense, they are not financially interested parties. Unfortunately, the whole mold business may be a bit of a racket. Remediation outfits charge a fortune but there's no absolute way to know if mold is really present when it can't be seen with the naked eye, and even when it can be seen, what do results that say that there's no real problem then signify?
