Whenever people think of animal care, the SPCA comes to mind immediately. I made an appointment just as covid restrictions were coming about in January 2020. Six months later I was contacted that I should bring my dog in for dental care. He had gone through the blood tests and was ready for teeth cleaning. After a few hours, I was contacted by phone that my dog was suffering and asking permission to euthanize him if need be or to administer CPR. I went to the hospital was told he had to be transferred out as their was no overnight vet on duty. I was told that I could go to the other branch on Fillmore St. formerly Pets Unlimited but I would have to take him there myself. I complained about this and said I wanted my dog immediately. It took more than 1 hour of waiting before my dog was delivered to me in a very groggy condition along with a bill of $1,800. I had no choice but to pay it and thought carefully about taking the SPCA to small claims court for the terribly inadequate service and response. I brought my dog home, putf him to bed and the following day he was running about in a normal way. I was told he could not tolerate the anaethesia and his dental cleaning could not be finished. I am not a pet owner crybaby and realize the difficulties in medical procedures. The hospital had us wait outside, contact only by cell phone which I did not have and all sorts of mysterious activity for intake and return of pets. The SPCA likes to poor mouth their circumstances. A wealthy organization constantly sending me reminders to donate, donate and donate even more. I would never go back there because of the way I was treated, I felt I got forced into paying $1800 for work not done. Its a money making operation in my opinion and I am sorry I did not find a small practice animal doctor to take my doggie in for treatment. SPCA has a great reputation. So does Coca Cola. Beware that neither is good for your health or your pet's health too.

Hospital was open for "pet parents" rather than drop-off when our regular vet only had drop-off during Covid. Thankful to be able to be with cat during vet visits with discovered inoperable tumor and when he was put to sleep.
