We certainly expected excellent service for a $20,000 purchase (2 large patio sliding glass doors, 3 windows, double French entry doors (one with a mail slot) and double French entry storm doors). When we went to the showroom to select our items and to sign the contract we were told they could do the whole job in one day. The job ended up taking 4 visits over several weeks due to things like all of the materials not arriving at the warehouse promptly. Installers forgetting to put parts on the truck and because the mail slot was installed on the wrong side of the entry way doors and would not work with the storm doors they installed. The two installers who did our windows and sliding patio doors were excellent. They were very extensive in sealing off the room with plastic to keep the dust out. The work was done quickly, with great care and was done right the first time by these two installers. On top of that they went over everything at the end to recheck their own work. For windows and patio doors we use these two again and highly recommend them. The third installer who did the entry doors and the storm doors over them was absolutely terrible on so many levels. The first day he showed up with the two other installers but was “too sick” to work for the first half of the day. When we made the appointment we arranged with the office to call them when the work was done for that day to approve, over the phone, our credit card payment for that part of the work so only the office staff would have access to our credit information. When the installers were finished and ready to leave this third installer, who we, to our surprise, discovered was the “lead” worker, insisted that we had to give him our credit card number before he left. He was unusually argumentative and insistent even though we offered to let him call the office to verify our arrangement. On the second visit after they had installed the entry way double storm doors it was discovered that the mail slot had been installed on the wrong door and would not work the way it was configured. The “lead” worker who had been so rude on the prior visit was again extremely argumentative to the point where my husband was about two clicks from throwing him off the property – everything from stating that we should “buy a mailbox” and install it outside the doors to again insisting before he left that we give him our credit card information. We contacted the office to discuss the mail slot issue and negotiated a discount to compensate us for having them install a second mail slot on the other door vs. reordering a new set of replacement doors and waiting weeks to have them made. We explicitly told the office NOT to send the rude “lead” worker because we did not want another encounter with him. We were assured that he would not be coming. We were sent an email by Steven Merson (Service Manager) that stated that he would be coming with one other person (Derek) to do the mail slot. On the day of the appointment the same three installers arrived, no Steven Merson (Service Manager) and they had sent the one rude installer they assured us would not be coming. So the office lied to us both over the phone and in the email. We allowed them to do the work since it was a simple mail slot install. The rude “lead” worker again asked for our credit card information but backed down pretty quickly when we refused. And so the job was finally completed.
