We had all the floors in our 1st floor refinished by Admiral in the summer of 2020 before we moved into our house. We choose Admiral because John seemed knowledgeable and interested in our 100+ year pine floors, but from the beginning the project had problems. The crew that arrived were not informed on project details and did not seem to be his "regular" crew. One room was getting a dark stain with high gloss poly, and the rest of the house no stain and satin finish poly. We entered the house the day after completion to find that the dark floors had the wrong finish poly applied and had dried with strange cloudy "streaks" on the finish. The floors in this room had to be re-sanded and refinished, and the speed at which they claimed to fix this had us concerned about the number of coats applied. We were not living in the house at the time, and several times throughout the project John seemed confused on what stage they were at and how many coats of water poly had been done, first telling us we still had to do another coat, then saying it was complete. We went with water poly on their recommendation, and our floors looked noticeably worn within the first 6 months, even though we are only 2 people with no pets. Now almost 3 years later, it is clear they did not do the recommended 3 coats of water poly, and our pine floors look quite worn down and as if they were not recently refinished. The floors are noticeably not smooth in some areas and have many rough spots. We went with Admiral based on the good reviews, so perhaps they were overwhelmed with projects at this time and not doing their best work, but from our experience we cannot recommend.

I have 50-year-old wormy chestnut floors which in some places had no finish left. I did not want a complete sanding and refinish because of the age and condition. John did a great job using tung oil to refinish spot areas so they blend almost perfectly with the rest of the flooring. It looks great. This was not a typical job but he knew the right thing to do with it.
