We had an excellent experience on a Saturday after I broke a finger. We didn't have an appointment but were seen quickly. After an x-ray was taken, a splint was put on the finger and a follow up appointment was made with a top-rated hand surgeon at this facility. After seeing him, I had surgery the following day at the KP Gaithersburg surgical center, where the staff were terrific.

You first need an appointment to go to this understaffed KP Urgent Care clinic. When I went in for a painful digestive disorder on a weekday night, it turned into a 5+ hour ordeal, probably due to their triaging and staffing. After taking my vitals, I did not see any staff for the next two hours. The doc was rude and she talked me into waiting to get a CT which didn't diagnose the problem. Bottom line: save yourself some agony and go to KP's Gaithersburg Advanced Urgent Care.

After Covid, Kaiser Kensington no longer has urgent care. The nearest urgent care is at Gaithersburg and Capitol Hill-- both a distance away. Kensington also doesn't provide Covid booster and for-seniors flu booster shots-- which, however, are readily available at many local grocery-store pharmacies (where I got mine). When it gets to the point that grocery store pharmacies provide better medical care than a medical institution like Kaiser, in my view Kaiser's got problems.
