SECU Shady Grove. Ever since the changeover from tellers to computer machines the service has dropped. Had experience where their machines would not provide $10 bills. Using their office is like walking into a crowd to do business where it is easy for anyone to see what account numbers you give for getting cash. Previous experience with managers has turned us off, and we would move our accounts if it were not for the convenience. We only use their service when no one is in the lobby and that is seldom.

Polite agents who make promises and don't follow through. And repeated incompetence/inaction in processing transactions. Two times I applied for mortgages and processor quit with no notification; I had to call them to figure out why I hadn't heard anything. They never recorded a payoff of a previous load during a refinance even though they charged me for this service; this came up years later when I went to sell the property and discovered that there was an old lien. It took four telephone calls to get them just to send a letter saying that the loan was paid; but the lien still hasn't been removed. At each call the letter was promised at a certain time, and it wasn't received until the last call when I stayed on the line and insisted it get sent while I waited. On an existing loan with automated payments, they changed the payment amount due to an increase in escrow and debited the new amount for several months. Then they debited the previous amount which was a few dollars less, and wouldn't credit the payment because it was not for the correct amount. When I called and told them, they insisted that it couldn't have happened because they never do that. They even threatened to report that I hadn't paid to the credit bureaus! I had to speak with a supervisor and practically beg him to look at the account statement. When he did see that it was their mistake, it got fixed after a while, but I felt compelled to save the documentation just in case.

They made some mistakes in spelling and did not always respond quickly to phone calls and emails and they make it hard to look up individual employee's contact info, but, we got a great rate at lower cost than a bank.
