Giacalone Flooring was recommended to us by the local flooring store, and we used Mike Giacalone to refinish the hardwood in our home. They did a fantastic job as the floors and staircases look beautiful. Before starting they moved the furniture and area rugs from the rooms and once finished moved it back. They carefully moved the furniture. They took up old carpeting from the staircase. They removed the old finish from the floors and steps by sanding and removed the finish from the staircase handrails by hand scraping & sanding. The handrails were done entirely manually as these were curved surfaces. The work was to change the stain color from gunstock color (more orange than brown) to Jacobean (dark brown) for the existing floor, and handrails. They added hardwood floor in another room having carpeting and stained the wood. We cannot tell a difference where the new and old wood floors meet. The entire job took a week. His crew, 5 people, was polite and considerate. We did contact 2 other contractors, but only one provided an estimate. The other estimate was higher than Giacalone’s. These other contractors complained about the difficulty in doing the handrails.
