We had Telmo Ortiz from Decks Plus come out to our property approximately 2.5 weeks ago to quote a deck project. Unfortunately, the experience that followed was one of the most unprofessional contractor interactions we have dealt with in years. Two days after the visit, Telmo told us he would have the estimate ready by the weekend. That never happened. After that, he completely disappeared for roughly 10 days with no estimate, no update, no apology, and no basic courtesy communication. When we finally managed to reach him again, he claimed he was in a loud environment and said he would call us back shortly. Once again, that was not true. He never called back and continued ghosting us. What makes this even more concerning is that one of his major selling points was the “extended warranty” behind his work. A warranty is only as good as the integrity and reliability of the contractor standing behind it. If someone cannot handle basic communication before even securing the job, it seriously raises concerns about how warranty issues or post-project problems would be handled later. We understand contractors get busy. Good contractors simply communicate that. Ignoring clients, repeatedly making promises you do not keep, and disappearing without explanation is not professionalism — it is disrespectful. After reading other reviews, it appears this is not an isolated incident and that similar communication and reliability complaints have been made by others as well. At this point, based on our experience, we would not trust Telmo Ortiz or Decks Plus with a major construction project, nor would we recommend them to others. Contractors who operate this way damage the reputation of the entire industry. We will continue updating this review if Telmo Ortiz or Decks Plus ever decide to respond professionally.
