Suburban Chimney of Silver Spring, Inc. (301) 523-7171) —furnished and installed a flue liner and cap, (now required by WSSC/Maryland for a masonry chimney), before a new furnace replacement could be installed in my older Kensington home. The company owner, Tony Serrano, came out on time, the day after I called. He looked at my existing set-up, told me exactly what would be done to comply with new requirements, and gave me a good price for the amount of work and materials required. I agreed to the price, and he scheduled the job for the next day.
His crew of two, Philippe and Edwin, showed up on-time (on a Saturday) with everything they needed (numerous materials and tools) They chiseled out my old terracotta flue liner (going through the cinderblock basement wall = tough job) and the old metal flue parts. The then from the roof they installed a 25-foot stainless steel liner down the chimney. They fitted the new liner going into the basement with new double-walled galvanized metal flue parts; sealed small gaps between liner and ducts with fiberglas wool. The metal ducts were sealed at their seams with high-temp silicon caulk, and that ducting then tied into my existing the gas water heater. They mortared the opening around the liner/ducting going through the basement wall cinderblock. It was a much more involved and laborious job than I had imagined so I’m glad I watched the entire process. The install was done very skillfully — and I’m a tough person to impress. They left the area very clean, and hauled away all the old parts. Tony, the owner, came by to check the finished work as soon as his crew was done. Start to finish the job took two men about 3 hours. I can highly recommend them if you need a flue liner.

This recommended company is apparently shuttered. Their number is answered by a third party recording that offers help to find a similar
