This is a story of up and down. I'm a professional gigging musician. I wanted to buy a particular keyboard. I called them to see if they had it, and they said "no, but we have a floor model we'll sell you for ($250 off of retail). I said hold it, and I was on my way. As I was driving to the store, they called and said that they had the wrong one, but they would let me buy one at that price, brand new, but I'd have to wait until after the holiday season to come get it. This is a great deal. I called another music store, and they said they couldn't match the price I was offered by Washington Music Center, but they could get it in stock within 7 days (all they had to do was order it), and they could come within $15 of matching the price. I called back to Washington Music Center, and spoke with the owner who said they couldn't do that, they couldn't order it, they couldn't get it, but that if I wanted to go get it from the other store I could, and "good luck." They also said that if they got one in stock somehow that they would call me "right away." I told the other store to order it, they did, and I got it. It took six days. As a courtesy, I called back to Washington Music Center to tell them that I was set, and that they didn't need to hold one for me or call me when it came in. The salesman said "hey, we have four of them in stock...do you want to come by it? We'll still honor that price." My thought is that they wanted to sell them at full retail during Christmas, and that they didn't want to honor the lower price during the holiday season. It felt bait-and-switchy. I won't be buying from them for future purchases, or if I do it will be because they have it, in stock, and at a good price, and able to sell it to me right away (when no one else can).
