Cuatiously recommend for specific situations. TL:DR: if you just need to get rid of stuff quickly, it's probably a good bet, but it left a bad taste in my mouth on a few things. A lot of reviews describe the place as rude or blunt or complain that the owner wasn't interested in their stuff, but I didn't see much of a problem with this. In my experience the market for a lot of stuff, antiques in particular (except for mid century modern) has crashed, so objectively a lot of people's precious stuff isn't worth much to sell any more. We were selling some furniture and some more valuable art due to a death in the family. The valuable art might have made more money via an auction house in Chicago (Freeman's which I highly recommend), but for the sake of getting clear of the estate quickly, we went with Luther's, though it was a mixed experience. Pros: they moved quickly and were able to take quite a lot of things Cons: I'd asked for best offer and when I went to decline citing a better offer out of Chicago, they increased their offer substantially, this added a layer of complexity and back and forth that I was trying to avoid when dealing with grieving loved ones. I'd specifically said I didn't want to go back and forth due to the trauma of the family tragedy. Yes, we'd made it clear there was a real value to getting things out quickly but the offer went up about 30%+ and Luther's essentially bad mouthed their competitor (Freeman's) while saying they didn't mean to which didn't sit well. (Meanwhile, when I explained the nature of the family tragedy Freeman's said Luther's second offer was reasonable though less than Freeman's, and Freeman's said didn't see the gap as big enough to be compelling for us if we just needed to be clear for emotional reasons-- highly recommend Sara Malloy at Freeman's for integrity).
