We have contracted with this company but the start of construction has been delayed. Ala seems very knowledgeable and trustworthy but since we are still waiting for the deck construction to start we can’t rate quality. I will update after construction is completed.

Ala and his crew (“Sam” and Davey – NOT to be confused with the legendary singing duo) recently completed replacing my dilapidated 35-year old deck w/a newly pretreated wooden one complimented by TREX floorboards and rail tops. I have nothing but high praise for the process from start to finished product. Ala’s Custom Decks was one of seven deck contractors I met with and got estimates from before making my decision. From a pricing standpoint, it fell within the range of the lower tier. Ala not only took the time to attentively listen to what I was hoping to accomplish but came by one weekend (i.e., going the extra mile) to drive me to see some decks they completed around my neighboring area, plus one in progress that was near completion. This helped to clarify my vision of how I wanted my deck to look. Despite his youthful appearance, based on our conversations, Ala has an “old soul.” He seems to keep company with more mature and experienced individuals, as evidenced by his older Gen-X crew members. He was meticulous and very detail-oriented in his approach and invited me to examine and provide input about his work prior to applying certain finishing touches. I appreciate that they worked exclusively on my project and were always available to answer any questions, even from my neighbors who were admiring their work. In addition, he made a couple of structural alterations I requested, at no extra charge. Taking pride in his workmanship, he told me (on more than one occasion) that if my townhome was suddenly blown away by some unfortunate natural disaster, the deck would still be standing (lol). He treated the project as though it was his personal work of art . . . and surprisingly, it looks like it! I guess that’s why he named the company Ala’s Custom Decks. Since the job began and was completed in the winter, I’m looking forward to the spring when I can have the deck stained and water sealed. Suffice it to say, my advice to you is if you’re in the market to replace your deck, I strongly recommend, without hesitation or reservation, that you request a quote from Ala’s Custom Decks before making a final decision on which contractor to choose. You won’t regret it.

Having Ala’s Custom Decks & Fences construct my deck was a very positive experience. Ala was great to work with, was helpful with design and selection of materials, smoothly handled permitting and inspections, completed construction according to code, and did everything professionally, on time, and at a fair price. I am very pleased with my deck building experience with Ala and with the quality deck that resulted.
