I went to a Medstar Urgent Care visit for a bacterial, upper respiratory and eye infection. After initial vital measurements, I waited an hour in the examining room, but that was probably to be expected on a Saturday morning with few doctors available. I tested negative for Covid-19, influenza, and respiratory synctial virus. Finally, the doctor came in. I told her my problem, and she listened to my lungs and checked my eyes. She ordered two x-rays which indicated no pneumonia. She suspected a virus that is “worrisome for bacterial bronchitis.” She prescribed a round of doxycyclene, polymyxin B (antibiotic eye drops), and Tessalon Perles, a cough suppressant and provided a written report. The medications cleared up the problem. All in all, the visit was a success and I received the service I needed.
