This is an older establishment and it shows. Can only rate the Medicaid facilities which leave much to be desired in terms of accomodations. The professional staff attempts to compensate for these deficiencies but resources are spread thin, as they are in most nursing homes. They do try hard to communicate with and coordinate with family members and to facilitate personal needs of the patients

My husband was admitted on July 22, and because of Covid, I have not been able to go inside the facility. I have never seen his room. He does complain about the food. I take him meals once a week, but he doesn't like the food they serve him.

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. Attending physician Tri Pham unilaterally stopped antibiotics that had been prescribed by INOVA hospital after return from an emergency hospitalization for pneumonia. He also refused to continue the medication prescribed by the patient's own doctor that was successfully reducing cellulitis, conjunctivitis, and related symptoms. This was after the Leewood administrator's claim that an infectious diseases physician would be available was not followed through. Pham discontinued the medications without consulting with family or spouse, or with the outside doctors, leading to patient's death by pneumonia during the weekend. During the weekend nursing support was sparse, underskilled, and mostly uncaring, with one exception. Dr Pham attributed death to heart failure after first trying to claim kidney failure; neither was true, though heart failure may have occurred at the end, secondary to untreated pneumonia and the infections that were left untreated. Two dedicated nurses had been concerned and spoke up about Pham's inattentiveness and decisions. However the majority of nursing staff are cowed or sycophants. This is not the place for your loved one.
