The skill and dedication of the physical therapists was very high. Communication between different departments, and even among other staff members of the same department (with the exception of the physical therapists) was often non-existent or not timely. Patients were often left in the dark as to what might be going on with their care. The personal care aides were in general very good, caring and gentle. However, they were often overwhelmed with a large number of patients to care for. Part of this was due to how they had to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Thanks to the safeguards in place at Burke, there were no cases of COVID-19 during my eight week stay there.
