I called Bill Summers Heating and A/C service in mid-summer and requested a free estimate on replacing an old outside A/C unit. It turned out to be the WORST contractor experience that I have ever had. Summers arrived at the very end of the time window that he allocated, prompting me to call him and ask if he was still coming. I showed him the old A/C unit that by then had stopped running. He said that he could fix it so that I could delay replacing it until the fall because he said that replacement prices might be lower. I said OK. He unbolted the cover and checked the capacitor and some corroded connector wires. At this point, the unit began to work again. He put the cover back in place but failed to replace all the screws. Instead, he handed me the screws, I assume, expecting me put them back in place. Then he then turned to me and demanded $200.00 in cash immediately for the "repair" and a slight coolant recharge. He refused credit cards and said that I should borrow the money from someone if I didn't have the cash. But actually he didn't fix or replace any corroded wires or parts, so the unit failed again the next day. I texted him that his $200 so called "repair" had failed and asked if his work had a warranty. He refused to honor any warranty and did not return. I felt very ripped off. He eventually sent me an estimate for replacing the A/C unit, but he said that the newly required dissipation switch could not be connected to my existing furnace (only 5 years old). Instead he said that I must replace BOTH the furnace and the A/C together at a price of $9420.00, cash/check. That turned out to be false information since all the other estimators said that the dissipation switch provided on the replacement cooling coil could easily be connected to my existing furnace.

Not only is Bill a salt of the earth kind of guy, but he is knowledgeable, fair, responsive and talented. I’m glad I don’t need his services often, but very happy he’s there when I do.

I have never written a negative review until now. Surprised about how incompetent and untrustworthy this company is. Appears to be a one-man operation. I used him because of the good ratings on checkbook. So I am very surprised that I ended up paying $1300+ for a botched repair. Our AC system was not cooling. Summers came and checked out the system. He said he tested for leaks, and could not detect any leaks. He told me the problem was a faulty TX valve. The cost was $1340 to replace. I okayed the repair. I probably should’ve gotten a second opinion, but it was 95° plus outside and we wanted the AC repaired ASAP. After he completed the repair, the system worked fine for about a week, but then we had the same problem with the system not cooling. I had another HVAC repair man come because Summers said we would have to wait a week for him to come back. My repair man who diagnosed a leak that that was caused by the botched repair. I informed Summers, but this time he refused to come back to fix the situation. Would not be riding this negative review if Summers had come back and Did the right thing and fixed his botched repair. Would avoid his company like the bubonic plague.
