(1) Elite (Danny) demanded payment, in full, in cash, on the day the paving was to be completed. When I walked away from that deal, he agreed to accept payment by check, also in full, on the day the paving was to be completed. I was directed to make the check payable to someone named “Marvin Gonsalez”. (2) Scheduling for this work was problematic. When we agreed that the paving would be done on October 19th, I stipulated that the following day, October 20th, would not be acceptable. Nevertheless, they showed up late, on October 19th, tore up the driveway, and returned on the next day to finish the job. It seemed that my objection to October 20th didn’t matter. (3) A young boy, of around six or seven years accompanied the work crew, on both days. His presence around heavy equipment and chunks of broken paving raised concerns about the potential for injury and consequent liability claims. (4) At the end of the job, the work crew stretched yellow tape across the driveway entrance; but not before driving a vehicle, on the driveway, that left brown tracks that remain to this day, months after the driveway was paved.
