Based on recommendations from our son, who had just worked with the company, and those of Consumer Checkbook, we had Hodges install windows and sliding glass doors on our side porch last fall. The company was easy to work with. We asked only one other company for pricing. Overall, we decided Hodges was the better option, and we are fully satisfied.

I used Checkbook to locate 2 vendors who could replace a sliding basement door. Hodges was the low bid by a small percentage so I went with him. The whole project cost a little over $3,000. I paid half up front, standard for the industry, I guess. I was in no hurry; I asked when the job would get done he estimated “a couple of months.” The appointment was about 3 months or so—also standard for all contractors everywhere. The job was done in one work day by one guy. The result was pretty much neat and tidy, but the workman didn’t have quite the right size framing around the door, so he gerrymandered something to fit and covered everything with paint. I hardly noticed it then and I don't think it matters at all. The door didn't quite fit exactly either, so I was told how to push it a tiny bit as I closed it or else it didn't quite lock. Some would complain, but I found the problem really minor and now I don't notice any problem at all. I let my reservations go and haven't regretted it. In summary I thought the job was what I expected and I'm satisfied with the result. I can't really judge price because I only sought 2 bids and these were close together. I can recommend Hodges for similar work, but get 3-4 competitive bids—not just for doors, but for any installation project costing over a few hundred dollars. You’ll feel better.

Trust them 100% in replacing all my windows. Real pros I have used for decades. Tried someone else once and that was a big mistake.
