Had an offer for a "free" checkup on my HVAC system before worst of summer. System was working fine before (& after) Furr tech showed up. He told me I needed a completely new system both heating & A/C... told me that a number of things were wrong & then spent a long time on his phone talking to (what he said) was a person at the main office about how much things would cost and pricing. Said it would cost over $25K (but there might be some discounts or cash available from State or Federal energy administrations... lucky me!!) Didn't bite. Guy came back a week or so later, expecting me to sign a deal; told him NO! I then called another company to check the system. Recommended (said NOT necessary, but better to do now on a part that was probably toward the end of its useful life); total cost for part & labor was approximately $400. System still working perfectly months later.

We contacted F.H.Furr on 8/6/26 about an AC unit that was running warm, and a visit was scheduled for 8/11/26. The technician, Tristan, diagnosed that the capacitor needed to be replaced, and also sold me a “hard-start kit” to boost power when the compressor starts up. The markup that F.H. Furr charges is outrageous! According to AI research, a normal capacitor should cost $15-45. Furr charged $599. A hard-start kit should cost $10-80. Furr charged $357. Even with diagnostic and installation fees, that’s highway robbery. In addition, Tristan sold me a yearly maintenance agreement that he said would cost $195. What he didn’t tell me is that the $195 was only for one AC unit, and he charged $390 for two. Tristan did not give me a receipt, and I had to call F.H.Furr to get a receipt emailed. I called customer service the morning of 8/13/26 to ask about the deception of charging for two AC units, and was told a manager would call me back. No call. I called again the morning of 8/14/26. Still no call.
