McCarthy Services bought out DM Select a couple years ago. DM had installed our new gas furnace, gas water heater, and AC condenser and we were happy with them. We've had a maintenance contract with McCarthy Services since then and are definitely NOT happy with them. When they come to do installations, they push additional services that will earn them revenue but appear to be unnecessary to us. This last spring check, the tech recommended that he could clean the leaves out of the inside of the AC condenser for $775. This task can be easily do-it-yourself. I had told the tech we would be selling the house within a year or two, and that I monthly washed the reusable furnace filter. The tech tried to convince me to buy an electrostatic filter that wouldn't need to be washed. Why should I spend the money when what I was doing was not difficult and we're going to sell the house soon? During the fall check, the tech took 20-some pictures to demonstrate all the checks he did. Two weeks later, the system started cycling on and off from the clogged discharge drain, a problem that apparently occurs regularly. The tech didn't identify that the clogging was ocurring nor advise us on the regular drain flushing we should do to prevent it. McCarthy was going to charge $110 to send another tech to address it. We complained and they dropped the charge, but we won't be using them again.

Too many negative issues to go into here. There are other HVAC companies that are far better and honest. Would not suggest this company under any circumstances.

My a/c died on a Saturday night recently. I called Sunday afternoon, thinking to leave a voicemail for Monday morning, Instead, the repair tech was out within a couple of hours, determined the problem [system fried by a suicidal chipmunk], and we agreed that it was time to replace the system. By Monday afternoon, within 24 hours of my Sunday call, the new system was installed and running. I could not have asked for better, friendlier or more professional service, ajnd at a reasonable price. HIGHLY recommend!
