After getting several estimates I went with HESS. They had the best price and handled all the rebate paperwork. A great convenience since I pay only the difference out of pocket. The crew did a great job and seemed genuinely concerned about achieving a R-49 rating. I asked them to add an exhaust fan in the bathroom. No problem. One year later, my house is more comfortable, no more ice dams, and my energy bills are lower. This home improvement was a great investment. The rebates and federal tax credits make it a no brainer. I recommend this contractor.

The initial review of the house and identification of where we needed added insulation was excellent. The contract for the work arrived quickly and scheduling was easy, the crew was polite but left small insulation pieces everywhere and spilled expansion foam on furniture. even though they had spread plastic where they were working. There was one area in the basement where insulation was missing, The post review included just a blow out measure where they evaluate how tight the house has become. That was disappointing, as we had expected a review of some of the walls with thermal imaging. Leaving us with no knowledge of how well parts of the attic was insulated. Also, between the initial review and their final insulation all the windows had received added insulation by ourselves. That in itself would have created a very positive results in the blow out test. They refused to return to do thermal imaging following the job, and they refused to insulate a small area where a cable came through the basement wall – a 12 square inch area claiming that it was not included in the contract.

Great home energy audit service. Will hire and manage contractor. Not cheapest route but best value especially for my 100 year old home.
