We moved into a house and wanted to find a company who could service what we have, i.e. a gas water heater and a two zone heating/cooling system with two Nest thermostats, driven by a gas furnace and electric air conditioner whose heat exchanger is mounted outside of house, both connected to a Honeywell controller and a separate timer attached and wired to the furnace that controls some kind of air exchange system, all this quite complicated. They said they only install gas water heaters, but don't service them, but can handle the rest, which I thought was a bit strange, but still scheduled a checkup. When they came they only "performed general service on gas furnace," as the receipt states, and checked NOTHING ELSE. They said they could not check out the air conditioner because it had to be at least 65 degrees outside, WHICH I WAS NOT TOLD BEFOREHAND, and will now take another service call to do. They were finished in 45 minutes and charged $165. They claimed the timer had nothing to do with the furnace even though I know it uses the furnace blower! When I asked them what would be highest filter rating to use for that particular furnace, they said "maybe up to a MERV 13, then backed off and said a better choice would be a lower MERV but one that is a HEPPA filter, which makes no sense. They also wrote on the receipt the filter is 1x16x25, when it is actually 1x16x24. Their lack of knowledge was stunning and probably explains why they only looked at the furnace itself.

My water heater had a hose break spraying my furnace with water. The technician polished off the rust on the furnace parts after taking the furnace apart and checked every part as he put it back together. Works fine now.

They installed both a new furnace and gas water heater. However, they did not inform us that their company is unable to do regular maintenance or safety checks on the gas water heater.
