My friends and I have been members of Fitness SF SOMA since 2011 when we transferred our memberships from World Gym Showplace Square, now closed. The chain's owners have kept the SOMA facility up to date, including a complete renovation of the men's locker room. They also are constantly making improvements and updates to the gym equipment. The gym offers both "house" trainers and "private" trainers. My workout buddies and I, all senior citizens, do our exercise routine at the 5 AM opening hour and the gym can get fairly crowded, even at that time. But we are usually able to accomplish each day's workout even if we have to vary the order of our exercises from day-to-day. The only aspect we miss is an outdoor gym that functioned during the pandemic years and was much less crowded than the indoor facility. Although Fitness SF monthly fees are more expensive than those at nationally advertised chain gyms, like 24 Hour Fitness and Planet Fitness, they are much more reasonably priced than what is charged by so-called "elite" chain gyms and private gyms.

Good overall fitness center with very convenient locations. Equipment does reach saturation during busy times occasionally, but there is usually enough alternative equipment available. Floor space (for stretching, etc.) is dismal and needs some organization and expansion.

The gym is clean and well-maintained. They don't treat their independent trainers very well, though (I have one) and prices have gone up dramatically over the last two years - over 40% for my membership.
