Gym is crowded no matter when you go. Parking is limited considering the number of people, so it is usually necessary to walk about a block. Part of this is due to San Rafael deciding to paint curbs red on one side of the street although it's not very busy at this particular location. I recommend based on cost relative to facilities.

The Marin Y is too crowded. They just re-did their exercise area (again). Every time they do that, it's worse. Fewer weight machines that are also more difficult to use, bad use of space, machines are down too often for too long. There's areal problem with people hanging out on the machines, fiddling with their phones. There needs to be a floor proctor gently advising these types that their manners could stand some improvement. Or periodic announcements over the intercom for a few days. The one advantage: it's very close to where I live. But I'm investigating other places.
