Where do I begin with Bruin. Lets start with, Bruin has an open lawsuit against me, trying to compel me to pay for a roof with no warranty, and which does not meet building code. The moment Bruin started the job, they were in violation of the Building code. 1) They applied for a building permit, but did not wait for it to approve, nor did they inform the customer. 2) The CSL holder for bruin the license number listed on their website, after 10 months of legal wrangling, finally admitted under oath in a Construction Supervisors License hearing with the state, that he filed the paperwork and went on vacation for 2 weeks. He did not supervise the project even once, for one hour, or one minute. The roofing materials were not put on properly and we could tell from day one just looking at it. 10 months of being berated by Bruin, it's owner Robert Olsen, its General Manager, and it's staff, telling us that it's a good quality roof, and discounting 2 independent building inspection reports as fake, the rood was not installed to manufacturers specifications, thereby not to building code, with no warranty. Still after all this, Bruin is suing me. I won't even go into the lies, lies we have via email by Bruin and its staff about the progress of the project, ones we could prove based on photos provided. Or the fact that the Bruin Roofing Contract does not meet the customer protection standards of their Home Improvement Contractors License. The owners excuse under oath in a HIC licensure hearing, "I'm 73, I'm Old" The requirements have been in place for 14 years now. He should have known and complied with them at 59 years of age. At the end of the hearing it was suggested that James Rossini, CSL License 053402 (as stated as their sole CSL holder on their website) will be losing his license and Bruin will need to either close up shop or hire someone new. This all because Bruin puts profit over following the rules. This all went down pre-pandemic. The rules were broken. In the CSL hearing, there was no remorse, the owner, the GM, and the license holder didn’t even think there was anything wrong with what was done. My roof was financed, and after 10 months of fighting with the finance company to get reimbursed I managed to. One of the two charges was done without any authorization, this was the final payment , which was processed by bruin before the job was even finished, per the finance company, my e-signature attached to it (which I did not sign). After 10 months of asking they have not been able to furnish me that signature. The down payment also refunded to be because Bruin used a form which contained my signature but no payment information. Charging without authorization, is a violation of the terms Bruin has with Greensky the financing company. Charging before completed and additionally charging before both parties are agreeable to the completion of the project is a violation of MGL 142A under HIC Licensure. Simply put, Bruin disreguards the law because it means more projects can be completed in less time. The supervision by someone licensed to supervise, if it isn’t done, dozens of projects every day can occur. Bruin was caught. Had I not had time in the pandemic, I wouldn’t have come to this point. Knowing the truth about bruin. I had time to learn about the resources available to consumers by the state. At the end of the day, I am being sued to pay for a roof, that’s not to code, that wasn’t done with an active permit, and wasn’t supervised by someone licensed. I will not lose that lawsuit. On the other hand, I am out $1700 of my own money, legal fees, roof inspections, costs for photos and to submit my complaints to the state. That I can sue for. Within 3 days of learning my project wasn’t supervised, and that Bruin would likely be losing its CSL license holder’s license. I updated all my reviews and contacted the local media to warn people about bruin. That day I received a letter offering to drop the small claims suit against me if I stop the assault on their livelihoods. They won’t win that suit, and they made decisions that assaulted their own livlihoods…. This time, however, is the first time they got caught.
