I was trying to figure out how to make sense of the taxes that I filed--I have several jobs, including both W2s and 1099s, plus I had changed jobs and I was trying to make sense of why I owed so much in taxes. I thought that coming in would be better than trying to file for my taxes online. The accountant that I talked to wasn't helpful at all--she kept telling to use the online software, and she kept insisting that I ask my employer to make me an independent contractor instead of an employee. Jobs don't work like that, and you would think that an accountant would know that. She didn't make an effort to sell the benefit of working with an accountant for tax preparation.I walked away not wanting to ever come back and have an accountant do my taxes, and I just went back to the online software, crossed my fingers, and hoped everything was correct.
