My mother had a contract with BGE Home Smart Service. They replaced the pipes from the front of the house to the street in May 2016.
Everything was done well plumbing wise. BUT...In July 2017 we had a power surge in the neighborhood. It took an independent electrician to discover--to our horror--that BGE Home had severed the ground wire and had not replaced it after the plumbing work the previous year, leaving the house vulnerable. My mother's home sustained quite of bit of damage. As I see it, the problem with BGE Home is that there does not seem to be anyone inspecting work performed, generally--with a check list. It all depends on luck whether the tech is proficient, especially with no quality control. We were lucky the whole house did not need re-wiring. Thank goodness for power surge protectors. But even they did not catch everything. Many items including a stove had to be replaced and the alarm system. Things got smoking hot, electrical sockets had cinge marks; you could smell it. Not a good experience.

BGE installed a new water heater for us recently. Installers were prompt, polite, neat, and offered advice on maintenance etc. The sales staff I spoke to by phone were also knowledgeable. The heater has only been installed for a few days, but early signs are that it is a significant improvement over our prior model (installed by Sears), for pretty much the same money.
