I contracted with this company to install ceramic tile in a laundry room. The house has no basement and sits on a concrete slab. The floor was very uneven in a couple of places so several pieces of tile were not flush with the rest after installation. I was told by the owner that the employee who did the work did the best that he could and that the long length of the pieces of tile didn't help. My wife contracted with a different company several months later to replace ceramic tile in the downstairs front entry foyer and half bath. The floor in both areas was just as uneven in spots as the laundry room. However, this contractor used self-leveling concrete to fill in the low spots and he also used some kind of plastic interlocking tabs between the pieces of tile that held them together and level while the adhesive set. As a result, the floor turned out very even with no pieces of tile sticking up higher than the rest. I did not know anything about self-leveling concrete or these plastic interlocking tabs when I contracted to have the floor replaced in the laundry room. But, after seeing how well they worked in the foyer and half bath, I wondered why this company could not have done the same.
