Three years ago, I consulted brick masons for repairs on my chimney. Declan Twohig at East Coast Masons was the first one I met with. He estimated that 30 bricks would need to be replaced and quoted a price. I met with four other contractors who each estimated 80 bricks. I went back to Declan and asked if he wanted to increase his price but he said if he had to replace as many as 80 he would absorb it. His price was the lowest and I was impressed with his demeanor and expertise, so I hired him. Declan and his crew completed the job in two days. As they were finishing, I counted the new bricks in the chimney and found that they had replaced not 30, not 80, but 170. Before we settled up, I tried to get him to increase his price to account for the extra work that the chimney obviously needed. Despite my insistence, Declan would not raise his price. I had to settle for giving him and his crew a generous tip. I have never encountered a contractor who is as skilled AND principled as Declan Twohig. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
