Hughes Company assured us they were EXPERTS in water management. Our project included water management in our yard through pipes and swales. Our yard is half landscaped and the remaining half is a natural wooded area. The completed projected resulted in moving the water from the landscaped area to the wooded area. However, this created an enormous erosion problem in the wooded area due to the confluences of the pipes and the swale. We told the Hughes Company you cannot solve a problem and create a worse erosion problem. Hughes Company stated that the erosion problem in our wooded area was outside the landscaped area and was not part of the contract and not their problem. Hughes stated that we would need another contract to resolve the problem. Hughes Company never informed us of any potential issues, specifically that in fixing the problem they would create an erosion problem. Before the project began, we had a walkway in our backyard. The walkway was not replaced because it was not part of the contract. We were not informed that the walkway was not part of the contract and that we would have to initiate another contract. Also, there is a lack of supervision of the workers on the job. On many occasions, workers were on their cellphones or just standing around. In my opinion, the cost was exceptionally high for the work accomplished and will not contract with Hughes again.

Hughes did all the work agreed to and more. The mulch beds were carefully edged. They cleaned up all trimmings and debris. They completed the work within a week after we made the down payment. Their price was reasonable and their proposal and contract was professional in presentation.
