I went to AAA Rockville Car Care Center six months ago for ordinary scheduled maintenance. I am an AAA member and thought they would treat me right. Instead they told me I needed four new tires even though two of them were less than two years old. When I complained, the manager apologized and offered my next oil change free. So I just got my free oil change and they told me I needed new shocks, and new tie rod ends, and my battery tested at only 65%. When I got home I jacked up my car myself and found absolutely no play in the tie rods. I checked the shocks by trying to bounce the car and they were fine. The battery is only two years old. This shop clearly follows the classic up-sell practice of suggesting unnecessary expensive service. They should be avoided at all costs, and AAA should revoke their affiliation.

They are good for regular maintenance but they don’t have all the high level diagnostic equipment. I was referred to the nearby Amaco to diagnose a “red flag” they were unable to repair or adjust

I was surprising pleased with this service and glad I gave them a chance.
