Dr. Carey and her colleagues have been giving care to my pets for almost 25 years. They are compassionate, friendly, knowledgeable and spend the necessary time with pets and their owners. The care and consideration they gave both times I needed to say goodbye to my companions at the end of their lives made those very sad days a little more bearable. While I'm not sure if their prices are competitive, they are sensitive to costs and don't pressure clients into services that aren't necessary. In a time when private equity-owned vet practices are the norms, I also very happy and proud to be supporting a locally owned business with strong ties to the community.

Takoma Park Animal Clinic has a great vet, Dr. Carey. Dr. Carey, unfortunately for her animal patients and human clients, is reaching retirement age, and I'm not sure what will happen to the practice after she leaves. There is another very good vet, Dr. Malachi, who will reach retirement age soon after Dr. Carey, and thus far there are no younger vets who will take over the practice. Right now they use substitute vets to fill the gaps but that is not a good long term solution. I hope they hire younger vets soon.

I have taken all my cats to Takoma Park Animal Clinic for more than 25 years. Their medical staff has consistently been knowledgeable, kind, animal focused, in their care. They take the time to really tend to the animal, explained options when an older cat was near end of life, as well as competently handle annual shots, etc. Only complaint would be that since the pandemic it seems they don't allow a quick urgent care visit when an animal needs attention that might not rise up to a visit to an animal hospital. I wish they would bring that back.
