During processing of my tax information, the preparer called and said I owed over $9K in tax because of two large IRA distributions on the same day from a credit union. I knew this couldn't be right and discovered two IRA (taxless) transfers that were coded incorrectly by that institution. Because of that 'heads up' notice, the credit union belatedly sent out corrected statements before a filing extension or corrected return was needed. This firm is not cheap, but very professional. I wonder if a cheaper firm would have caught this or even said anything.
