Before filing my taxes, they clued me in that I had a large distribution from an IRA that resulted in a large tax demand. It turns out the credit union mis-characterized a Direct Transfer of a large IRA as a Distribution, and reported it to the IRS. After struggling with the credit union to fix the problem, I was able to resolve the issue just before the filing deadline. In other words, their note saved me some grief.
